Lucid Motors joins the ‘Made in Saudi Arabia’ programme

Lucid Motors has officially joined the “Made in Saudi Arabia” programme, highlighting its deepening commitment to the Saudi market. This initiative allows the company to use the “Made in Saudi Arabia” logo on its products, representing quality and national pride, as it now assembles its award-winning Lucid Air locally.

The announcement was made following Lucid’s continued expansion and local engagement, which sees over 65% of its workforce comprising Saudis. The company actively participates in training programmes in collaboration with the Human Resources Development Fund and the National Academy of Cars and Vehicles (Nava), which aims to bolster local talent in the automotive industry.

Lucid operates a manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City, which has been functioning for over a year and is transitioning into a more integrated manufacturing operation. This facility is being developed to enhance local production capabilities, aligning with the broader objectives of the Saudi government to establish a robust electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem.

His Excellency Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, emphasised that Lucid’s participation is a testament to the Kingdom’s strategic transformation efforts under the National Industrial Strategy, which aims to promote promising sectors and attract quality investments. He noted that the Kingdom is now a critical destination for electric vehicle manufacturing, supported by modern infrastructure and favourable governmental policies.

Al-Khorayef highlighted the importance of attracting global companies like Lucid, which, he believes, strengthens Saudi Arabia’s position as a global hub for future industries. He stated, “The presence of large companies in the Saudi market, such as Lucid, enhances the Kingdom’s role as a global centre for future industries, contributing to increased local content, non-oil exports, and the localization of industry and knowledge transfer.”

In his remarks, Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director for the Middle East at Lucid, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for joining the programme, stating, “We are pleased to join the ‘Made in Saudi Arabia’ program and receive the honour of using the ‘Saudi Industry’ logo, which reflects quality and excellence.” Sultan reiterated Lucid’s commitment to the values represented by the logo, such as sustainability, innovation, and excellence. He noted the growing trend in the Kingdom towards electric vehicle adoption, aiming to provide customers with a unique and sophisticated experience.

The “Made in Saudi Arabia” programme, part of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program and supervised by the Saudi Export Development Authority, promotes national projects by encouraging consumers to buy locally manufactured products and motivating Saudi companies to export.

In addition to its manufacturing facility, Lucid operates two digital studios in the Kingdom and service centres in Riyadh and Jeddah, enhancing customer access to its latest electric vehicle technologies. The company collaborates with several key entities, including the Public Investment Fund and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, to support advancements in battery technology and fast-charging networks, thereby facilitating the transition to a sustainable future in Saudi Arabia.

Lucid’s initiatives align with the Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to diversify the economy and support research and innovation through strategic partnerships that contribute to the Kingdom’s economic transformation and sustainability objectives.
