Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility (AFEM) has launched the much-anticipated Polestar 4 SUV coupé. The launch of Polestar 4, the fastest and lowest-carbon Polestar to date, is an important milestone for Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, as Polestar expands from a one- to three-car lineup.
With Polestar 2 and Polestar 4 on the UAE’s roads, and Polestar 3 coming soon, the Swedish electric car brand continues to grow its offering in the Emirates, providing customers with options for green mobility that are stylish, exciting and eco-friendly.
Commenting on the occasion, Hasan Nergiz, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility, said: “After the remarkable success of Polestar 2 in the UAE, we recognized the need to continue expanding the line-up and fulfilling the demands of the fast-rising number of eco-conscious car owners in the UAE. Polestar 4 brings the best of an SUV and a Coupe experience in one, delivering the most powerful and speediest performance in the Polestar line-up, alongside its signature futuristic design and advanced technology. More importantly, Polestar 4 carries the lowest carbon footprint, from production to market; completely embodying the brand’s vision to build truly sustainable mobility solutions for the modern-era customers.”
Nergiz continues: “In a market where SUVs are a favourite, Polestar 4 stands out not only for its edgy driving experience but also for its green credentials, completely aligned with the core mission of Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility: to make sustainable mobility more accessible and an everyday reality for everyone.”
Design
The Polestar 4 combines the aerodynamics of a coupé and the spaciousness of an SUV, while demonstrating minimalist, yet innovative Scandinavian design. This includes eliminating the rear window which enables a new kind of immersive rear occupant experience, and the separation of the dual blade front lights with unique Polestar light signature.
Aerodynamic efficiency is enhanced by the low nose, retractable door handles, flush glazing with frameless windows, rear aero blades and air flow optimisation around the rear light bar.
Polestar 4 is the fastest production car the brand has developed to date. The 0-100 km/h sprint can be completed in just 3.8 seconds and maximum power output is 400 kW (544 hp) in the Long range Dual motor version. The Long range Single motor version features a 200 kW (272 hp) motor at the rear, with a range up to 620 km (WLTP).
With dimensions measuring 4.84 meters in length, 2.01 meters in width, and a height of 1.54 meters, the Polestar 4 strikes a balance between a shooting brake, a two-volume coupé, and a crossover. Built on the SEA platform (400V) shared with other Geely group models, it enjoys a 3-meter wheelbase which offers an expansive interior space akin to a ‘living room on wheels.’
A distinctive, elegant front.
The exterior’s bold design features are epitomised in its front profile, adopting the signature “Thor’s hammer” LED headlights, while at the back, a horizontal LED bar accentuates the vehicle’s width. Innovations such as retractable door handles and sophisticated alloy wheels up to 22 inches elevate its aesthetic appeal. The boot space is practical, starting at 500 litres and expanding to 1,500 litres with the back seats folded, alongside a modest ‘frunk’ for stowing charging cables.
Inside, Polestar 4 excels with minimalistic yet inviting Scandinavian styling, showcasing superior materials that speak of robustness and premium quality. The user-centric design includes a 15-inch central display operating on Android Automotive, integrating seamlessly with Google services like Google Maps. While the interface could present a learning curve due to its layered submenus, these features consolidate control over the vehicle’s extensive capabilities. A 10-inch digital display for the driver adds to the modern dashboard setup.
A notable feature is the singular physical control, a minimalist rotor positioned for managing audio. Upholstered in high-quality, eco-friendly leather, the seats reflect Polestar’s commitment to sustainability, with the rest of the interior crafted from recycled materials.
Passenger comfort is prioritised with adjustable rear seats, independent climate control, and the ambience enhanced by an electrochromic panoramic roof capable of transitioning from transparent to opaque. Contributing to the high-end atmosphere is an audio system designed by Harman Kardon, delivering an impressive sound experience through its integrated 12 speakers.
Performance and Energy Efficiency
On the road, the Polestar 4 impresses from the onset with its unique rear visibility solution and the unparalleled comfort it provides. Drivers are initially disoriented by the lack of a traditional rear window, quickly adapting to the high-quality rear camera feed displayed in the rearview mirror. Noise-reducing double glazing and adaptive ZF electronic suspension further contribute to a serene driving experience, adjusting seamlessly to road conditions.
With the dual-motor variant’s substantial power—544 horsepower and 686 Nm torque—the Polestar 4 offers swift acceleration yet remains stable despite its hefty 2,300 kg weight. While particularly nimble manoeuvrability for sharp turns is limited, the vehicle’s steering provides sufficient responsiveness across all driving modes, favouring a relaxed driving style.
Charging and Range Considerations
Polestar declares a 560 km driving range under the WLTP cycle for its dual-motor version. In urban conditions at a mild 17 degrees Celsius (not very common here!), the vehicle achieves an average consumption of 21.5 kWh/100 km, suggesting a realistic range of about 450 km, extendable with conservative driving. Highway conditions see consumption rise to approximately 26 kWh/100 km, reducing the span to around 390 km.
Supporting rapid charging capabilities, the Polestar 4 accepts up to 200 kW ultra-fast charging, with a 20-80% charge in under 30 minutes. A 22 kW onboard AC charger simplifies urban charging situations, accommodating lower-powered public charging stations.
The Polestar 4 is available in two variants: the rear-wheel-drive ‘Long Range’ with 272 horsepower and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version, all nearly fully equipped as standard with limited optional extras.

Sustainability
Polestar 4 is also the most sustainable Polestar to date, carrying the lowest carbon footprint of the range at launch, being produced using hydropower and solar photovoltaic electricity, and materials such as recycled aluminium, recycled PET and mono-materials.
As a result, the Polestar 4 Long range Single motor version has a cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of just 19.9 tCO2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent), while the Long range Dual motor has one of 21.4 tCO2e. Since the first Polestar 2 deliveries in 2020, the company has continually refined its production process to drive down emissions. Compared to the original Polestar 2, which had a 26.2 tCO2e footprint, the Polestar 4 Long Range Single Motor’s footprint is reduced by 24%.
Looking forward, Polestar has ambitious plans, with the Polestar 0 Project aiming to deliver a climate-neutral car by 2030 by scrutinising every component to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the board. Hasan Nergiz explains, “We’re focused on not just product but also the lifecycle, rethinking each step from material extraction to delivery.”
