Spectacular multi-city BYD launch in Saudi Arabia

In an unprecedented multi-city event, Chinese car company, BYD, the global leader in New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), has made an extraordinary grand entrance into the Saudi market, launching simultaneously in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dharan.

The spectacular debut hosted by regional partner, Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company (AFEMC), marks a significant milestone in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s push towards electrification and aligns with the ambitious Vision 2030 sustainability goals.

Al-Futtaim has made a bold commitment known as ‘The Saudi Pledge,’ aiming for 100% New Energy Vehicles in the Kingdom by AFEMC, establishing 10% of the Kingdom’s charging stations by 2030, and creating thousands of jobs in Saudi Arabia. This pledge not only demonstrates a significant investment in the Kingdom’s future but also sets a new bar for corporate responsibility and environmental stewardship in the region.

The launch event, a strong statement of intent, was a remarkable demonstration of coordination and vision, unfolding concurrently across three major cities. This unique approach not only maximized the impact of BYD’s entrance into the Saudi market but also highlighted the ethos of a car brand that aims to push boundaries and operate on the cutting-edge of technology.

The event, which was part of the Founding Day Week celebrations, drew hundreds of attendees in each city, offering them an exclusive first look at BYD’s electric and hybrid-electric vehicles.

BYD’s introduction to the Saudi market includes an impressive line-up of electric models designed to cater to a wide range of consumer preferences and needs.

These include the luxurious BYD Han, an electric sedan that combines elegance with performance; the BYD ATTO 3, designed for versatility and efficiency; and the BYD Seal, an electric luxury sedan with its sleek design and advanced technology.

Additionally, the hybrid offerings, the BYD Song Plus and BYD Qin Plus, offer a practical solution for those transitioning to electric mobility.

Hasan Nergiz, Managing Director at Al-Futtaim Mobility Company, highlighted the importance of this launch: “This launch is more than just introducing new models, it’s about driving change and making sustainable mobility accessible to everyone in the Kingdom, helping the nation on its journey towards achieving its Vision 2030 objectives.”

AD Huang, General Manager of BYD Middle East & Africa, added, “Our launch in Saudi Arabia, in partnership with Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company, represents a significant milestone in our mission to promote sustainable transportation across the world. We are confident that our diverse range of electric vehicles will meet the needs and expectations of Saudi customers.”
