VinFast launched the VF 8 in the UAE in 2024, and the latest 2026 model year is now at dealerships. The Vietnamese brand chose this mid-size electric SUV as its first car on Emirates roads. It competes directly with the Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E among others. This guide covers everything a UAE buyer needs to know, from pricing and range to the ownership package.
The VF 8 forms a crucial part of VinFast’s wider Gulf strategy. We covered that ambition in detail recently in another article: VinFast targets Gulf’s young EV buyers with tech-rich VF 8 and long warranty support.
The brand’s regional footprint is growing too. In Oman, VinFast sells the VF 8 through Bahwan Automobiles and Trading, one of the Sultanate’s most established dealer groups.
How much does the VinFast VF 8 cost in the UAE?
Two trims are available to UAE buyers. The VF 8 Eco starts at AED 115,900 including VAT, while the Plus costs AED 125,900 including VAT, according to official dealer Al Tayer Motors. Both figures undercut most rivals in the segment.
That pricing is deliberate. VinFast has priced the VF 8 to win first-time EV buyers who want space, power and technology without paying a premium badge tax.
Al Tayer Motors holds the exclusive UAE franchise. The group sells the car through showrooms in Dubai and Sharjah, and via Premier Motors in Abu Dhabi. Buyers therefore get a dealer network with more than 40 years of local history behind it.
What range and performance does the VF 8 offer?
Both UAE trims use the same 87.7 kWh battery and a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout. The official Al Tayer specifications quote an NEDC range of 493 km for the Eco and 476 km for the Plus. NEDC figures tend to be optimistic, so expect less in daily driving, especially in summer heat. Even so, the VF 8 covers the most common journeys, such as Dubai to Abu Dhabi and back, with room to spare.
Power is strong. The Eco produces 349 hp (260 kW) and 500 Nm of torque, while the Plus delivers 402 hp (300 kW) and 620 Nm. The Eco reaches 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and the Plus in under 5.5 seconds. Few SUVs at this price accelerate as hard.
Charging is quick. VinFast claims a 10 to 70 percent top-up in 31 minutes under ideal conditions. UAE owners also gain a market first. In June 2026, Al Tayer Motors and VinFast launched the country’s first “At Your Door” charging service, powered by PlusX Electric. A portable charger comes to the customer’s home or office, booked and tracked through a dedicated app.
The VF 8’s design is by legendary Italian designer Pininfarina.
How do the Eco and Plus trims differ?
The Eco covers the basics well. It rides on 19-inch alloys, seats trimmed in black leatherette, and an eight-speaker audio system. Both trims share the 15.6-inch screen, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a heads-up display.
The Plus adds the luxury layer. It brings 20-inch alloys, vegan leather in black, brown or beige, and a 10-speaker system with a woofer. It also gains a panoramic sunroof, hands-free tailgate, auto-dimming mirrors, and ventilated front and rear seats.
What is the VF 8 like inside?
The cabin centres on a 15.6-inch touchscreen that handles nearly every control, from climate to navigation. VinFast adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus over-the-air updates that refresh the software remotely. The car also listens. Say “Hey VinFast” to wake the AI voice assistant, which handles navigation, vehicle functions and checks such as tyre pressure through natural conversation.
The Plus trim brings genuine luxury touches. Buyers get vegan leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front and rear seats. Rear-seat ventilation rarely appears outside premium brands. The car also carries 11 airbags, above the segment norm.
Pininfarina handled the design. The iconic Italian studio gave the VF 8 a grille-less front, a horizontal LED light bar and connected rear tail lights. Colour options include Sunset Orange, Deep Ocean green, Crimson Red and VinFast Blue.
What driver-assistance features come as standard?
Both trims carry a deep safety suite. Every VF 8 gets adaptive cruise control, 360-degree surround-view monitoring, blind-spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert. The car also adds front and rear automatic emergency braking, lane-keep and centring assist, traffic jam assist, highway assist and a driver monitoring system.
Three drive modes let owners tune the feel. Eco, Normal and Sport adjust throttle response and steering weight. For a car at this price, the breadth of driver-assist kit stands out.
How are the cars positioned?
VinFast positions the UAE as a flagship market, and Al Tayer Motors frames the partnership around customer experience. CEO Ashok Khanna said the partnership would “offer the ultimate EV experience to UAE customers while amplifying the brand globally.” At the opening of the country’s first VinFast showroom, he described the cars as heralding the arrival of sustainable luxury into the UAE.
How does the VF 8 compare with rivals?
On paper, the VF 8 outguns much of its class. Standard all-wheel drive and dual motors come at a price where rivals often charge extra. The Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ford Mustang Mach-E all sit in the same bracket, yet the VinFast typically costs less to buy.
Some competitors quote longer ranges, so high-mileage drivers should compare figures. For city and intercity use across the Emirates, the VF 8’s range covers most routines with ease.
Is the ownership package worth considering?
This is where the VF 8 pulls clear. VinFast backs the car with a 10-year or 200,000 km vehicle warranty alongside a 10-year battery warranty with unlimited kilometres. Al Tayer Motors CEO Ashok Khanna describes the cover as class-leading, and most rivals offer three to five years.
The support goes further. Al Tayer Motors adds a five-year or 100,000 km service contract, roadside assistance for 10 years or 200,000 km, and a complimentary home charger. Current purchase offers include a 0.99 percent finance rate and a buy now, pay after six months option. For a newer brand building trust in the market, that package gives buyers a real cushion. Few manufacturers at any price match it.
Should you buy a VinFast VF 8 in the UAE?
The VF 8 makes a strong value case. It offers premium space, serious power and the segment’s longest warranty at a price below its established rivals. The dealer backing of Al Tayer Motors adds confidence on service and parts, and doorstep charging removes a common worry for first-time EV owners.
