VinFast targets Gulf’s young EV buyers with tech-rich VF 8 and long warranty support

Vietnamese automaker VinFast is pushing hard into the Gulf region. The company is positioning the VF 8 electric SUV as its lead product in the market. Young, connected buyers are the primary target. VinFast believes software quality and ownership support can win customers in this region.

What is the VF 8?

The VF 8 is a mid-size electric SUV. Pininfarina designed the exterior. The car runs a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing up to 300 kW. VinFast quotes a WLTP range of up to 471 km for Middle Eastern variants. An earlier figure of 493 km appears under the NEDC test cycle. The two numbers reflect different testing standards, so buyers should note which applies.

The interior centres on a 15.6-inch infotainment display. In addition, the car includes a panoramic roof, ventilated seats, and air ionisation climate control. Driver-assistance technology covers adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and surround-view monitoring. Edmunds’ specifications for the 2025 VF 8 confirm the all-wheel-drive layout, the 15.6-inch screen, and the long warranty coverage.

Why is range a concern for Gulf drivers?

Hot climates place extra load on battery cooling systems. Consequently, real-world range can fall below official figures during summer months. Longer intercity routes also demand more from the battery than urban commuting does. Therefore, buyers in the Gulf are right to scrutinise range data carefully. VinFast is addressing those concerns through its warranty structure and service network, rather than relying on headline figures alone.

What warranty and support does VinFast provide?

The ownership package is one of the more detailed in this segment. VinFast gives buyers a 10-year vehicle warranty covering up to 200,000 km. In addition, the battery warranty runs for 10 years with no kilometre limit. Mobile service is included. Roadside assistance is part of the package. Fast-charging support and over-the-air software updates are also provided.

However, the significance of that package goes beyond individual buyers. Gulf governments are investing in charging infrastructure, renewable energy, and smart city programmes. For those initiatives, a brand’s long-term service capability matters. VinFast is making the case that its back-end support can meet those expectations.

Who is VinFast targeting in the Gulf?

VinFast is focusing on younger buyers. This group is drawn to connected features and premium finishes. They are also open to brands without a long regional history. As a result, VinFast is competing on specification and ownership terms rather than heritage. That is a sensible approach in a market still forming its preferences around electric vehicles.

The VF 8 sits in a competitive part of the market. Several established brands sell mid-size electric SUVs in the Gulf. VinFast is differentiating through its warranty length and digital focus. For example, the 10-year unlimited-kilometre battery warranty is longer than many rivals currently provide.

How does the VF 8 fit VinFast’s wider Gulf strategy?

VinFast is treating the Gulf as a long-term growth market. The company is present across multiple countries in the region. Meanwhile, demand for electric vehicles in the Gulf is growing steadily. Regional governments are setting targets for EV adoption. VinFast wants to be embedded in the market before that adoption curve steepens.

The VF 8 is the current centrepiece of that presence. However, VinFast has a broader model range and could introduce further vehicles as demand develops. The warranty and service infrastructure it is building now will support whatever comes next. Therefore, the VF 8 launch is as much about establishing operational credibility as it is about selling one specific model.

VinFast has moved quickly in the Gulf. The challenge now is to convert interest into sustained sales volume. The combination of a well-specified SUV, an extended warranty, and a growing service network gives the brand a good platform to reach the expanding buyer-base across the region.
