Porsche has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) offering with the introduction of the 2024 Macan Turbo Electric, marking a significant milestone for the luxury automaker as it transitions one of its best-selling models to fully electric power. The newly launched vehicle is available for purchase in various markets, including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, beginning at approximately $107,295, which includes destination charges.
The Macan Turbo Electric utilises a Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, which has been specifically developed to enhance performance and driving dynamics. The compact SUV features an impressive dual electric motor setup, producing 576 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque, with the potential for a temporary boost to 630 horsepower via an overboost function. The vehicle weighs around 5,400 pounds but manages to maintain a well-balanced weight distribution of 48:52 front-to-rear, thanks to the innovative engineering behind its platform.
A standout characteristic of the Macan Turbo Electric is its efficient range of 288 miles on a single charge, comparable to the 308 miles of the 4 model and 315 miles of the base model. It also showcases advanced battery technology, utilising an 800-volt system that allows for rapid charging at rates up to 270 kW. This means the Macan can add up to 155 miles of range within just 10 minutes of charging using a suitable fast charger.
The interior of the Macan Electric reflects modern design trends with a focus on digital interfaces. Standard features include a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, maintaining a sporty feel that aligns with Porsche’s heritage.
