Episode 5 of Let’s Talk Mobility is a fascinating discussion around sustainability with Volvo Cars’ Head of Global Sustainability, Anders Kärrberg, and Head of Climate Action, Jonas Otterheim.
Volvo has made a commitment to be all electric by 2030 and fully climate neutral by 2040 as a company.
They are also looking to reduce the CO2 produced by each car manufactured by 40% by 2025 and 75% by 2030. To do this, the company is not just looking at the powertrain – although EVs clearly don’t produce any tailpipe emissions – but also the materials and components used in construction of the cars.
Volvo has long been known as a leader in safety, with an emphasis on family cars. They are now adding a rigorous focus on sustainability. As Jonas Otterheim explains, they want to be known as “pioneers in protecting people and the planet.”
The company is looking at increasing its appeal to UAE drivers over the coming years and has committed to offer all its models here through its partnership with Al-Futtaim Automotive.
