New BYD electric and hybrid models available now

The three new BYD models can be seen at the BYD Showroom & Discovery Center at Dubai Festival City.

BYD, the global leader in electric cars, launched in the UAE last year, with the family-friendly BYD ATTO 3.  This was followed by the luxury sedan, the BYD HAN.  Both have proved to be very popular choices for people wanting to make the switch to electric. Now, Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company and BYD have introduced three new models to BYD’s lineup in the UAE: BYD SEAL, BYD SONG PLUS, and BYD QIN PLUS.

BYD SEAL

The BYD SEAL is a luxurious electric sedan, boasting sporty looks and refined comfort.  It’s available from AED 194,900. The car’s exquisite interior features high-quality Nappa leather with diamond stitching, reclinable and ventilated rear seats for ultimate relaxation, a 15.6” rotating multimedia screen for an immersive entertainment experience, and a heads-up display for convenient, safe driving.

The car is available in a Long-Range version with a 570km WLTP range and a Performance AWD variant that accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The BYD SEAL is also the world’s first production model equipped with CTB (cell-to-body) Technology.  This means that, instead of cells being contained in a traditional battery pack and then installed into the car, they are integrated into the car’s body.  This is a more efficient use of weight and provides extra rigidity to the chassis while also giving better protection to the battery cells.

BYD SEAL has scored a top three finish for World Car of the Year, so definitely worth a look!

The BYD SEAL EV, another in the company’s ‘Ocean’ range, is sleek and elegant, combining luxury and performance.

BYD SONG PLUS

The BYD SONG PLUS is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV incorporating BYD’s Super DM technology, which differs from other PHEV technologies. At the heart of BYD Super DM Technology is an electric-based hybrid system. This hybrid architecture uses a high-power motor drive and large-capacity power battery as its primary power source, only using the engine for assistance.  Prioritizing electric propulsion achieves ultra-low fuel consumption and exceptional energy efficiency.  Overall it delivers a seamless, responsive, and comfortable driving experience with a combined range of up to 1,000 kilometers (NEDC).  The SONG PLUS is available from AED 119,900.

SUVs are proving to be particularly popular in UAE, offering environmental benefits while maintaining the convenience of traditional fuel for longer journeys so this could be an extremely popular choice.

This is also a good looking SUV, with some styling similarities at the front with the Porsche Cayenne.  It offers a suite of advanced features in its Standard FWD trim, including ambient lighting, a 360° camera, panoramic sunroof, Dirac audio system with 9 speakers, and compatibility with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.

The AWD trim further enhances your experience with a 15.6” rotating multimedia screen, multi-colour ambient lighting, ventilated/heated front seats, an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror, heads-up display, Infinity audio system with 10 speakers, blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control, blending performance with cutting-edge technology and comfort.

The BYD SONG PLUS is a stunning, comfortable and efficient hybrid SUV.

BYD QIN PLUS

Also a PHEV, the interior of the BYD QIN PLUS is special.  Bi-colour sports seats made with high quality materials are particularly pleasing. It’s also a long vehicle, which allows it to provide  cabin comfort and legroom unmatched in its segment.

With a 100-kilometre EV range and ultra-low fuel consumption, it boasts a combined range of up to 1000 kilometres and is available starting from a very accessible AED 91,000.

The interior of the BYD QIN PLUS is distinctive and provides a surprising amount of legroom.

Commenting on the availability of these new BYD cars in UAE, Hasan Nergiz, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company, said, “The addition of three new models to BYD’s line-up in the UAE reinforces the strong growth potential and demand for greener mobility in the country, and clearly places the UAE among the benchmark economies driving sustainability forward.”

He continued: “The launch marks another milestone as for the first time, we are introducing BYD’s long-range plug-in hybrids into the country, a strategic move that will enable more people to switch to greener mobility and ease the sustainable transition. Moreover, the expanded line-up delivers on our promise to make electric and green mobility accessible to all, democratizing the EV landscape. Another milestone step towards strengthening the EV ecosystem that we have started to build over the last year, made possible together with the world’s leading electric automaker and our exceptional standards of customer-centric service, alongside years of expertise across the full automotive value chain, from aftersales to flexible financing.”

BYD took top spot in global EV sales from Tesla last year and was the number one overall producer in China.  With its varied range of high quality vehicles, at very affordable prices, it’s not hard to see why.
