BYD brings two electrified SUVs to Morocco

BYD has added a fully electric and a plug-in hybrid SUV to its Moroccan range, giving buyers two distinct powertrain options at different price points.

What has BYD launched in Morocco?

Auto Nejma, BYD’s distributor in Morocco, has added two new SUVs to its line-up. The ATTO 3 EVO is a fully electric model. The SEALION 5 Super Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid.

Together, the two models cover different buyer needs. The ATTO 3 EVO targets drivers ready to commit fully to electric power. The SEALION 5 Super Hybrid gives drivers electric capability alongside a petrol engine for longer trips.

What are the key figures for the ATTO 3 EVO?

The ATTO 3 EVO delivers up to 330 kW with all-wheel drive. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Its top speed is 200 km/h.

For charging, the ATTO 3 EVO accepts DC fast charging at up to 220 kW. BYD says this takes the battery from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 25 minutes. Consequently, long stops at a charger become far less common for daily drivers.

How does the SEALION 5 Super Hybrid perform?

The SEALION 5 Super Hybrid gives up to 120 kilometres of urban electric range under WLTP testing. In addition, its total mixed WLTP range reaches 1,016 kilometres. BYD quotes fuel consumption at 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres.

For drivers who want to reduce fuel costs on daily commutes, the electric range covers most urban journeys. However, the petrol engine removes the concern of range on longer routes. As a result, the SEALION 5 Super Hybrid works for a wide range of driving patterns.

What technology do both models share?

Both the ATTO 3 EVO and the SEALION 5 Super Hybrid use BYD’s Blade Battery. This is BYD’s in-house lithium iron phosphate pack. BYD says it is designed for safety, durability, and reliability.

The Blade Battery appears across much of BYD’s global range. Therefore, Morocco receives the same core technology present in BYD vehicles sold elsewhere. Adil Bennani, managing director of Auto Nejma, said the two vehicles represent another step in making electrified mobility more accessible in Morocco.

What do the two models cost in Morocco?

The ATTO 3 EVO starts at 355,900 dirhams. The SEALION 5 Super Hybrid starts at 299,900 dirhams. The plug-in hybrid is, therefore, the more accessible entry point of the two.

Both prices place BYD in the premium segment of the Moroccan market. Meanwhile, the range of powertrain options gives buyers a choice based on their driving habits and budget. For example, a city driver with home charging access may prefer the ATTO 3 EVO, while a driver covering long distances regularly may find the SEALION 5 Super Hybrid more practical. The arrival of both models at the same time shows BYD’s intent to address multiple buyer profiles at once.
