Renault enhances Scenic and Megane E-Tech models and lowers prices

Renault has announced a substantial technical update to its Scenic E-Tech Electric and Megane E-Tech Electric models, coinciding with a pricing reduction in some markets including the UK.

The enhancements are designed to improve functionality and convenience for everyday use, such as the One Pedal Driving system, which allows drivers to control acceleration and deceleration using only the accelerator pedal. This system is complemented by adjustable regenerative braking strength, operated through paddles on the steering wheel.

Renault stated, “Besides smoother and less demanding driving in cities, it reduces brake-pad wear and optimises energy harvesting.” Existing vehicles that are already fitted with paddle shifters can receive this new functionality at no additional cost through over-the-air updates or from Renault service partners.

In a further bid to enhance user experience, both models will now include an 11-kW bidirectional onboard charger, which replaces the previous standard unidirectional 22-kW unit. For those seeking more power, a new optional 22-kW bidirectional charger is expected to be available starting in summer 2025. Additionally, the vehicles now support Plug & Charge technology via Renault’s Mobilize Charge Pass, streamlining the charging process for electric vehicle users.

Further improving the driving experience, the higher trim levels, Esprit Alpine and Iconic, will feature an innovative driver recognition technology. A camera installed in the A-pillar of the vehicle will automatically identify the driver and activate their personalised user profile, adjusting settings such as seat position, mirrors, playlists, and apps to suit the individual’s preferences. These models have also seen enhancements in their interior design, reflecting a more refined aesthetic.

In conjunction with these updates, Renault has adjusted the UK pricing for both electric models, making them more competitive in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle marketplace.

The starting price for the Megane E-Tech Electric now stands at £32,495 on-the-road (OTR), while the Scenic E-Tech Electric is available from £37,195 OTR. In Germany, the updated Megane E-Tech Electric starts at €40,900 for the ‘Techno’ trim level.  By way of comparison, in France, the Scenic E-Tech Electric is priced from €39,900.
