With EV charging stations dotted around the Emirates, drivers are never short of places to juice up.
And, with a multitude of chargers in some of the UAE’s most spectacular destinations, there’s never been a better reason to make a day of it.
Yas Island is one of Abu Dhabi’s most action-packed destinations, with theme parks, motorsports, concerts, shopping, dining and entertainment in full swing all year round.
On the island itself, dozens of electric vehicle charging stations are scattered across garages and car parks. And though many EVs take anything from 30 minutes to charge, the best way to experience Yas Island is slowly and leisurely – just don’t forget to vacate your space when you’re fully charged.
Here are six of the best things to do on Yas Island.
Meet your heroes at Warner Bros World Abu Dhabi
Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is a must-visit for the young and young-at-heart. The world’s biggest indoor theme park allows visitors to meet their favourite superheroes and come face-to-face with comic book villains. The park is split into six themed zones with more than 60 rides covering everything from VR and rollercoasters to dodgem cars and soft play. Batman fans shouldn’t miss Gotham City for a turn on Batman: Knight Flight, where thrill seekers can crusade around the night’s skies in a flight simulator.
The onsite parking boasts a collection of EV charging stations which are accessible in both public and valet areas free of charge.
Hit the shops at Yas Mall
With more than 400 big-name brands, a huge family entertainment zone and a 20-screen cinema complex, few places rival Yas Mall for retail therapy. As the island’s main shopping centre, the mall ticks off both luxury and affordability, whether you’re on the lookout for Hermes or H&M. Shopping aside, the mall also regularly hosts fitness events, art exhibitions and community activities, and offers easy access to other attractions via the Yas Express shuttle bus.
Multiple EV charging stations are available at Yas Mall Cinema Parking and Yas Mall Hypermarket Parking during mall hours.

Burn some rubber at Yas Marina Circuit
One of the biggest events in the world of motorsports concludes every year in Abu Dhabi with the F1 weekend, with this year’s event falling on Friday, November 23. For three days, the entire island comes alive with live concerts, yacht parties and events leading up to the final race, with rock band Foo Fighters, Dutch DJ Tiësto and American country singer Shania Twain confirmed for this year’s after-race shows. Outside of the racing season, few places compare to Yas Marina Circuit for cycling, with free entry around the track at selected times. If you want to burn some rubber yourself, supercars are available to hire. Who knows, the cleaner electric version of F1, Formula E, could come here too sometime in the future. Although, no plans have been announced just yet.
EV charging stations are situated at Yas Marina Pit in Shams Tower and the Main Pit Building, as well as at the nearby Crown Plaza Abu Dhabi – Yas Island Hotel and the Radisson Blu Hotel, Abu Dhabi Yas Island.
Slip and slide at Yas Waterworld
Cool down with a dip in one of 40 rides and multiple pools at Yas Waterworld. Highlights include Hamlool’s Humps, a ten-story speed slide, Liwa Loop, the first freefall drop waterslide in the region and Dawwama, the world’s largest hydromagnetic-powered, six-person tornado slide. Horror slides aside, splashers can also bob around in the region’s largest wave pool, stretch out on a sunlounger at the onsite beach or make the most of an underwater VR experience.
Although Yas Waterworld doesn’t have its own charging stations, there are plenty nearby at The WB Abu Dhabi Curio Collection by Hilton hotel and at Warner Bros. World, which is a four-minute walk away.

Scream your head off at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi
Got a need for speed? Well, don’t miss Ferrari World Abu Dhabi for a white-knuckle ride like no other. This park not only offers a fascinating journey through the rich history of the legendary race car, but it also provides the opportunity to quench your thirst for high-speed adventures on its diverse range of rides, including Formula Rossa, the world’s fastest rollercoaster. You can also book a drive in a soft-top Ferrari around the island, accompanied by a trained instructor. Ferrari will be releasing its first fully electric car in 2025, so until then you’ll have to make do with a petrol version!
As you might expect, the car-themed park has EV charging stations available onsite or you can take the Yas Mall shuttle bus if it’s more convenient.
Reach new heights at CLYMB
Just a one-minute walk from Ferrari World Abu Dhabi lies CLYMB – the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall and skydiving chamber. Home to five climbing walls, The Summyt is the tallest, standing at a lofty 43 metres high and adorned in the colours of the UAE flag. Elsewhere, easier walls offer amateurs the opportunity for a scramble, while the record-breaking indoor skydiving chamber allows daredevils to reach new heights – 104 feet to be precise.
Park up at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi or Yas Mall to stick your EV on charge and then get ready to harness up and leave solid ground behind.
