iCAUR 03T range-extended SUV reaches the UAE

Chery’s iCAUR brand has widened its UAE line-up beyond the V27, launching the 03T, a range-extended electric SUV built around electric-first daily driving with off-road ability alongside. Local listings put the model from AED 127,999, and iCAUR describes it as an “all-road REEV SUV”.

How does the dual-motor powertrain work?

At the core of the 03T sits a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with one motor on each axle and a permanent magnet synchronous unit driving the rear wheels.

The front motor produces 130kW and the rear delivers 185kW. iCAUR quotes a combined 315kW and 505Nm of torque, split as 205Nm at the front and 300Nm at the rear.

iCAUR lists 0 to 100kph in 5.5 seconds or less for the Royal AWD version. UAE listings name the local car the Luxury, so buyers should check that the figure carries across. Coverage of the shared platform in other markets quotes 5.9 seconds, which gives a sense of the spread between trims.

What is the REEV system and how far does it go?

Rather than relying purely on a battery or purely on petrol, the 03T uses range-extender technology. A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine tops up the battery once it runs low, and it never drives the wheels directly.

Consequently, the car delivers the quiet, punchy feel of an EV for daily errands, while longer trips avoid range worries. The battery is a 34.31kWh lithium iron phosphate unit supplied by CATL.

iCAUR UAE puts pure electric range at up to 171km and combined range at 801km. Both figures are quoted on the WLTC cycle, which is worth noting, because iCAUR’s Dubai dealer site advertises “1,200+ km” on a different measure. Fast charging from 30 to 80 percent takes around 20 minutes, according to the manufacturer, which helps if you top up between errands.

Can it really handle rough terrain?

Power on paper only matters if it translates into control. Therefore iCAUR fits the 03T with a set of on-road and off-road driving modes to earn its “all-road” name.

These cover loose, slippery and muddy terrain alongside Eco, Comfort and Sport settings, following the pattern set by the V27, which offers nine modes in Indonesian specification. Hill descent control holds the car between 3 and 8kph on steep gradients, while a low-speed crawl function operates between 3 and 12kph.

Chery also describes the 03T as running an i-AWD system that redistributes power between the axles as grip changes, sitting inside an all-aluminium multi-cavity cage body with 11 active safety features.

What about running costs?

None of this performance comes at the expense of running expenses, which matter when fuel and electricity feed into real ownership decisions. The range extender runs on standard 95 RON petrol.

iCAUR rates the 1.5-litre H4J15 unit at 45.79 percent thermal efficiency and says it produces 3.71kWh of energy per litre of fuel. That is a strong claim for a petrol engine, and it applies to the same engine used in the V27. Engine output is quoted at 105kW under what iCAUR calls its Golden EREV system.

Where does the 03T sit in the range?

The 03T joins the V27 in the UAE, extending iCAUR’s presence into a smaller, cheaper slot, with the V23 listed as coming soon at the brand’s Dubai showroom. It faces rivals including the Toyota RAV4 HEV, the Deepal G318 and the Hyundai Tucson.

For context, the Toyota RAV4 HEV is listed from AED 114,900, the Deepal G318 from AED 129,900 and the Hyundai Tucson from AED 101,850. So the 03T’s opening price of AED 127,999 places it in a competitive part of the market, above the Tucson and level with the G318.

Overall, the iCAUR 03T backs up its bold marketing with capable hardware, blending EV-like everyday driving with genuine terrain skills. As a result, buyers looking for a car that handles both regular commuting and weekend adventures may want a closer look and a test drive.
