Flying cars get a desert test zone in the UAE

The UAE now has a test zone for flying cars, with sand and summer heat built into the test.

ARIDGE, formerly XPeng AeroHT, signed a flying car agreement with Ras Al Khaimah on 19 September. The company says it creates a regulatory sandbox for personal flying cars, overseen by the UAE’s aviation regulator. Its A868 hybrid-electric tilt-rotor will be tested for power, endurance and safety in high temperatures and blowing sand. ARIDGE also plans a demonstration route between Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, though it has set no date. A day earlier, two of its Land Aircraft Carrier modules flew in formation at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. 600 guests watched.
