AGMC has become Lotus Cars’ official UAE distributor, bringing new showrooms and a growing electric line-up to the Emirates.
What does the AGMC and Lotus agreement cover?
AGMC, part of Albatha Group, signed a distribution agreement with Lotus Cars in Dubai on 24 June 2026. The deal gives AGMC responsibility for sales, aftersales, and the broader ownership experience across the UAE.
Three new Lotus sales sites are planned in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah. Aftersales centres will open in Abu Dhabi and Dubai as well. However, no firm opening dates have been confirmed, so the retail network is still taking shape.
Why does AGMC’s background matter for this partnership?
AGMC has operated in the UAE since 1976. The company currently holds the official BMW Group importer role for Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates. In addition, AGMC distributes Geely vehicles across the UAE.
That operational depth gives Lotus a well-established local partner. For premium car buyers, aftersales reliability and parts availability carry considerable weight. Consequently, AGMC’s existing infrastructure addresses one of the more demanding aspects of launching a luxury brand in the region.
How is Lotus repositioning itself as an electric brand?
Lotus has moved well beyond its origins as a lightweight sports car maker. Under its Focus 2030 strategy, the company is broadening its line-up to include electric and hybrid performance vehicles. The driving character of the brand remains central to that direction.
The current product range spans three models. These are the Emeya, a fully electric grand tourer; the Eletre, an electric SUV; and the Emira, a petrol sports car. Therefore, Lotus now covers multiple segments as it builds towards a luxury mobility positioning.
What does the Emeya offer UAE buyers specifically?
The Emeya is the clearest signal of where Lotus is competing in the electric vehicle era. Lotus prices the model from AED 439,000 in the UAE. The range includes variants producing up to 905 bhp.
In top specification, Lotus claims a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 2.8 seconds. For buyers in the UAE who want electric performance alongside luxury, that places the Emeya in direct conversation with established rivals. However, full pricing across the Lotus range in the UAE has not yet been confirmed.
What questions remain unanswered after the announcement?
The agreement leaves several details outstanding. UAE pricing for the complete Lotus line-up is still to be announced. Meanwhile, the Eletre X variant, which Lotus has indicated is due soon, has no confirmed launch date.
The absence of confirmed showroom opening dates is also worth noting for prospective buyers. A distribution deal and a functioning retail network are different things. As a result, customers interested in the Emeya or Eletre will need to wait for further updates before they can visit a dedicated Lotus site in the UAE.
