Constructed on the groundbreaking AmpR Small platform, which is shared with the Renault 5 E-Tech, the new MICRA exhibits a bold aesthetic that reflects a shift towards modern, urban styling. According to Matthew Weaver, Nissan’s vice president of design for Europe, the challenge involved was noteworthy: merging Nissan’s design DNA with the distinctive features of the Renault 5 while ensuring that the MICRA retained its unique character. The vehicle’s sharp contours, pronounced wheel arches, and SUV-like stance give it a robust road presence, while intricate details such as its “ice cream scoop” waistline and distinctive headlamps enhance its playful appeal.

Shifting to an electric powertrain for the first time, the MICRA will offer two battery options: a 40kWh version providing a range of up to 192 miles, and a 52kWh variant capable of reaching approximately 253 miles. Charging the MICRA is very convenient, with capabilities for DC fast charging that can replenish the battery from 15% to 80% in just 30 minutes. Additional features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology enable users to tap into the car’s battery to power various devices, enhancing its utility for outdoor activities.
The Driving Experience
Engineered for responsiveness, the MICRA benefits from a lightweight structure and a low centre of gravity courtesy of its battery placement in the AmpR platform.
