Geely has opened pre-bookings for its flagship Galaxy M9 plug-in hybrid in the UAE, pricing the three-row SUV at 159,900 AED, or about $43,540. That puts an 858 hp family SUV squarely against the Kia Telluride and Nissan Pathfinder.
What exactly has Geely launched?
The car goes on sale under the simpler Geely M9 name. It comes in a single trim level, so buyers won’t face a long options list. Meanwhile, reservations cost 5,000 AED, which is roughly $1,360. The SUV has previously drawn praise from Edmunds and The New York Times.
It’s a big vehicle. At 5,205 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,800 mm tall, it sits firmly in full-size territory. In addition, a double-chamber air suspension can raise or lower the ground clearance by 95 mm. That gives drivers some flexibility on rougher roads or when loading passengers.
How much power and range does it offer?
Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which works alongside three electric motors. Together, they deliver a combined 640 kW, or 858 hp. Geely claims that’s enough for 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. However, that figure is a manufacturer estimate, and nobody has independently verified it yet.
A 41.46 kWh battery powers the electric side. On China’s CLTC cycle, Geely quotes 210 km of electric-only driving. On the stricter WLTP cycle, that figure drops to 172 km. With a full tank as well, the company estimates combined range at more than 1,100 km. Again, these are Geely’s own numbers, and real-world results will vary with speed, climate and load. The UAE announcement didn’t include charging speeds.
What do families get inside?
Six seats come as standard, arranged in three rows of two. For the driver, there’s a 30-inch screen and a 32-inch augmented reality head-up display. Rear passengers, meanwhile, can watch a 17.3-inch screen mounted in the ceiling.
Comfort features stretch across the cabin. For example, the front passenger seat gets a powered legrest. There’s also a built-in fridge and a folding table for the right-hand second-row passenger. In addition, a 27-speaker sound system fills the interior.
Luggage space depends heavily on how many seats you use. With all six occupied, the boot holds 328 litres. Fold the second and third rows, though, and that grows to 2,171 litres. So the M9 can switch from people carrier to load lugger fairly easily.
How does the price compare with rivals?
At 159,900 AED, the M9 undercuts the Kia Telluride, which starts at 163,695 AED, about $44,575. By contrast, the Nissan Pathfinder begins slightly lower at 158,000 AED, or $43,020. Honda’s Pilot sits further up the ladder at 176,000 AED, roughly $47,925.
Geely is asking roughly the same money as these established names. In return, buyers get a plug-in hybrid with a large battery and a long equipment list. Still, whether families will pick a newer badge in this segment remains to be seen.
Why is the UAE price higher than in China?
At home, the Galaxy M9 costs between 183,800 and 248,800 yuan. That converts to around $27,440 to $37,150. As a result, the UAE entry price sits well above even the most expensive Chinese version. The source material doesn’t break down the reasons for that gap.
According to China EV DataTracker figures, the model’s domestic sales reached 29,980 units from January to August 2026. That’s down 25.8 per cent year on year. Consequently, export markets could become more important for the model’s overall volumes.

As of 24 September, the M9 was available for pre-order only, and no delivery date had been given. Once cars reach customers, independent testing should show how close the SUV gets to Geely’s range and acceleration claims. Until then, the headline figures remain promises on paper, and buyers should treat them that way.
