New Jaguar in the wild…

It’s likely that Jaguar has had more attention in the last couple of weeks than ever before.  In fact more than any other car brand for a very long time.  With a new “woke” brand positioning that deliberately sets out to alienate its old clientele – and no sign of a car in any of their rebranding communication – the unveiling of its new EV has been more than eagerly anticipated.

Well it’s here, as a concept at least – the Type 00.  And it’s pink. But not pink and dainty.  Pink and rather brutish, even industrial.  It’s a car that demands attention. It will have its haters, but also its lovers.  If you aren’t comfortable in your own skin, it won’t be for you; it will be certain to attract stares! Oh, and if you don’t want to gender-stereotype, it’s also presented as a concept in powder blue..

Shortly before the unveiling of the Jaguar Type 00 GT at Art Miami – no boring car show for this cool cat – Autocar got hold of some leaked designs. Intention or accident on the part of Jaguar?  Whichever it was, it sent the X-osphere (Twittersphere was so much easier….) into overdrive.

Here is what Jaguar presented.

Whatever you think about the concept car and the new vibes from Jaguar, this has definitely shaken up the brand and, probably, the whole car market.  “Normal” will seem rather unadventurous.

TopGear’s first take on the Jaguar Type 00.
