Want to do some Kung-Fu practice on the roof of a car driving over speed bumps? No problem! It’s the BYD Yangwang U7, an electric vehicle from the Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD, that you need. It has recently completed the ‘Kung-Fu stability challenge’.
In the challenge, a professional Kung-Fu master specialising in Wing Chun is filmed sitting one-legged atop the moving BYD Yangwang U7, which is travelling at approximately 15 km/h. The car navigates a road strewn with speed breakers that measure between 30 to 50 mm in height. Despite these obstacles, the master remains undisturbed, showcasing the impressive stability of the electric sedan.
The Yangwang U7 is equipped with advanced technology, boasting a Da isus-Z suspension system. This sophisticated system utilises LiDAR and cameras to make real-time adjustments to ensure a notably smooth ride, allowing the vehicle to manage road irregularities with precision. Additionally, the vehicle is powered by a quad-motor configuration, producing an astonishing 1,282 horsepower and 1,584 Nm of torque. This performance is supported by a substantial 135.5 kWh battery pack, providing an impressive range of 720 km on a single charge.
BYD has been significantly expanding its presence in international markets, particularly in response to the growing global demand for electric vehicles. In recent years, the company has successfully entered various countries, including the Middle East, where it offers a range of electric vehicles that cater to different consumer needs. The competitive pricing and advanced technology of BYD’s products have posed challenges for established legacy car manufacturers, prompting some nations, like the United States, to impose tariffs on the import of BYD vehicles.
The BYD Yangwang U7 is an example of the company’s commitment to EV innovation and performance. With multiple sub-brands under its umbrella, BYD aims to meet a diverse array of customer needs, from affordable daily drivers to high-performance models. As global interest in electric vehicles continues to rise, the future of BYD’s various offerings, including those from the Yangwang division, remains a point of interest for the automotive industry and consumers alike.
