Tesla has expanded its footprint in Saudi Arabia by installing 24 Superchargers. This installation coincides with Tesla’s commencement of deliveries for its much-anticipated Cybertruck, recently launched in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.
The company announced that eight Supercharger units each have been set up in Saudi Arabia’s three major cities – Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam – totaling 24 charging points to facilitate the growing demand for electric vehicles..
The concern regarding EV infrastructure is prevalent in light of the country’s unique driving habits; Saudi drivers tend to cover significantly more miles annually than their counterparts in other regions. Carlos Montenegro, general manager of BYD in Saudi Arabia, recently expressed this concern, stating, “Charging is probably one of the main, if not the main, point of concern.” He emphasised the critical need for adequate charging facilities to support the increasing adoption of electric vehicles.
In a bid to enhance its charging network further, Tesla has plans to expand the Supercharger stations later in 2025, with additional installations in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam. Moreover, Tesla aims to establish charging stations in other key cities, including Taif, Medina, and Buraydah by 2026. The company has also revealed intentions to develop charging support along the Jeddah–Riyadh–Dammam highway.
This first phase of Supercharger deployments marks a significant advancement for Tesla in the Middle East, an area where long-distance travel and accessibility to charging have historically posed challenges to electric vehicle adoption.
