COP28 Green Zone highlights

Visiting the Green Zone at COP28? You’re in for a treat. Just make sure you put on some comfortable shoes!

There are a number of Thematic Hubs to explore, covering all sorts of climate solutions.  These are: Energy Transition; Knowledge; Climate Finance; Technology & Innovation; Start-up Village; Humanitarian; Youth; Greening; and, Impact.

And if you want to sit back and digest what climate measures are being taken by the 200 exhibitors and their guests, there are more than 300 talks and events scheduled.

The organisers realise that the choice could be overwhelming, so they have produced some self-guided itineraries to help you make the most of your trip.

We’ve picked out just three highlights for you to visit in the Green Zone, but there is plenty going on every day!

The Role of Technology and AI in the Fight Against Climate Change. 1 December, 12.20pm

Taking place on the Technology and Innovation Stage this is a panel discussion featuring tech giants from Microsoft and Google. They will unveil the remarkable role of AI in the climate change battle, while spotlighting its ethical dimensions. Explore how these influential organizations are spearheading groundbreaking and ethical solutions, harnessing AI to confront environmental challenges and drive sustainability. This exceptional conversation offers unparalleled insights for a sustainable and ethically responsible future.

From Pledge to Change: Driving the Net Zero Transition in Automotive. 3 December, 4.30pm

A panel discussion about Al-Futtaim’s pledge to accelerate the adoption of EVs in the UAE. Featuring panel members including: Frederika Klaren, Head of Sustainability at Polestar, Lars Stenqvist Chief Technology Officer at Volvo Group and Al-Futtaim’s Hasan Nergiz.  Full details of Al-Futtaim’s events are below.

Energy Transition Changemakers Project Showcase & Awards. 5 December, from 10am

The conclusion of COP28’s Energy Transition Changemakers initiative will showcase decarbonization projects selected by an expert committee, highlighting particularly innovative and scalable solutions. There will be a showcase event for each of four sectors: Renewables & Clean Power, Energy Efficiency, Heavy Emitting Sectors, and Low-carbon Hydrogen. Please find more information here. An awards event will be held to recognize all the Changemaker projects from across the sectors.
