Volkswagen’s ID. Buzz comes with extended wheelbase

Volkswagen (VW) has ushered in a new era for its popular electric ID. Buzz with significant upgrades that have piqued the interest of electric vehicle enthusiasts and potential buyers across the Middle East. This revamped model features a longer wheelbase, a larger battery, enhanced seating capacity, and increased power, appealing to families and businesses alike.

The fully electric VW ID. Buzz first entered the market at the end of 2022, capturing attention with its blend of retro design and modern technology. Now, VW Commercial Vehicles has unveiled a new version that stands out due to its extended wheelbase of 250 millimetres. This extension not only offers additional room but also introduces flexible seating arrangements.

Depending on the chosen configuration, the vehicle can accommodate up to seven passengers, making it an attractive option for larger families or businesses needing to transport more personnel or goods.

Enhanced practicality doesn’t end at seating. For those prioritising storage, the vehicle retains its robust cargo capacity. Previously limited to a five-seater configuration, the shorter variant of the ID. Buzz is now available with an option for six individual seats, providing even more versatility for users.

In terms of performance, the updates bring forth an impressive suite of specifications. The longer wheelbase model introduces sliding doors that are approximately 20 centimetres longer, facilitating easier access. Adding to the comfort and luxury is a panoramic glass roof, sprawling across 1.5 square metres, offering an airy and open feel to the interior cabin.

Range is a critical factor for electric vehicle owners, and the upgraded ID. Buzz delivers with its enhanced 86-kWh battery. This allows the vehicle to travel up to 487 kilometres on a single charge, a considerable boost for long-distance travellers. Moreover, the charging power has been increased substantially to 200 kW, allowing for quicker charging times and reducing downtime.

Power has not been overlooked in this update. The standard output has been increased from 150 kW (204 horsepower) to 210 kW (286 horsepower) for both the new LWB variant and the existing shorter version. Additionally, for those requiring more power and capability, VW offers a top-tier model, the GTX. This dual-motor all-wheel-drive version boasts a remarkable 250 kW (340 horsepower), making it the most robust VW bus to date. The GTX’s towing capacity stands at a notable 1800 kilograms, further demonstrating its utility for business and leisure activities.

In sum, VW’s new ID. Buzz models present a compelling blend of practicality, power, and sustainability, set to attract a diverse audience interested in electric mobility solutions within the Emirates and beyond. These enhancements signify VW’s commitment to leading the charge in the expanding electric vehicle market, promising a harmonious blend of nostalgia and forward-thinking innovation.
