Vauxhall Mokka GSE is the brand’s fastest electric car

The Mokka GSE brings 280 horsepower and rally-tuned hardware to the compact electric crossover segment, priced from £35,495 in the UK after the Electric Car Grant.

What Is the Mokka GSE and How Does It Look?

Vauxhall has launched the Mokka GSE as its quickest battery-powered model to date. The car sits in the compact electric crossover segment alongside the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, the Abarth 600e, and the Mini Cooper JCW.

The exterior gets a lowered front end, four-element LED lighting, a black roof and bonnet, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Revised front and rear bumpers and a rear spoiler complete the bodywork changes. Inside, GSE sports seats with extra side support come as standard. Alcantara door trims, metal pedals, and a heated flat-bottom steering wheel are also included. A digital central display relays battery and performance data to the driver.

What Are the Performance Figures and Range?

The Mokka GSE carries a 54kWh battery paired with a motor producing 280 horsepower and 345Nm of torque. Vauxhall quotes a 0-62mph time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 124mph. The WLTP range figure is 209 miles.

For charging, the car accepts up to 100kW on a DC rapid charger. As a result, an 0-to-80 per cent charge takes 27 minutes. The car also has an 11kW on-board charger with vehicle-to-load capability. Vehicle-to-load allows the car to power external devices directly from the battery.

How Has Vauxhall Tuned the Chassis?

Vauxhall has given the Mokka GSE a notably different mechanical setup compared with the standard model. The chassis includes a Torsen limited-slip differential, a new rear anti-roll bar, double hydraulic bump stops, and Alcon front brakes. Consequently, the car has a considerably sharper hardware specification than most compact electric crossovers in this price bracket.

Drivers can choose between Sport, Normal, and Eco driving modes. Each mode adjusts throttle response and energy recovery. In Sport mode, the car draws on its full power output. Therefore, drivers who want everyday efficiency can select Eco, while those wanting the full performance experience can use Sport.

What Does It Cost and When Can Buyers Get One?

Vauxhall has set the UK price at £36,995 before incentives. After the Electric Car Grant, the price drops to £35,495. First deliveries are expected before the end of 2025.

In addition, Vauxhall’s Electric All In package is available to buyers. This package adds charging support and 10,000 miles of home charging. For buyers who want a straightforward path into performance electric motoring, the pricing places the Mokka GSE below several of its direct rivals.

How Practical Is the Mokka GSE as a Daily Car?

The Mokka GSE carries a 310-litre boot, which is a workable figure for a compact crossover. However, rear passenger space is tight for taller adults. Families with young children will find the rear seats adequate, though taller passengers may prefer shorter journeys.

The car’s 209-mile range and 27-minute rapid charge time make it viable for regular use. Meanwhile, the vehicle-to-load system gives drivers the ability to run low-power devices from the car’s battery. For buyers who cover mostly urban and suburban distances, the Mokka GSE covers the practical bases expected in this class while delivering a performance edge that most rivals in the segment do not carry.
