Al-Futtaim has launched the BYD Ti 7 in the UAE, giving buyers a plug-in hybrid SUV with family-sized space, off-road hardware, and a starting price of 156,900 dirhams.
What is the BYD Ti 7?
Al-Futtaim introduced the BYD Ti 7 on 3 June 2026. The Ti 7 is a plug-in hybrid SUV built around BYD’s DM-p dual-mode hybrid system. Two electric motors work alongside a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The system produces 480 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque. All-wheel drive comes as standard. BYD claims a 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds.
The exterior follows what BYD calls an “Interstellar Ark” design language. It has a boxy shape and H-shaped front and rear lights. Electrified SUVs are gaining ground across the Gulf, and the Ti 7 is pitched squarely at that market.
What does the cabin include?
Inside, the Ti 7 is spacious. BYD says passenger space exceeds 3.3 cubic metres. With the rear seats folded, cargo capacity reaches 1,880 litres. A 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument display are fitted across the range. Higher trims add a 26-inch head-up display.
The comfort specification is thorough. Ventilated and massaging front seats are included. A 14-speaker audio system and a small refrigerator are also part of the package. The Ti 7 is clearly designed for families who spend long hours in the car.
How does it handle off-road conditions?
The Ti 7 has four terrain modes: Mud, Sand, Snow, and Mountain. In addition, it includes Tank Turn and Crawl functions. These are designed for low-speed technical driving. Suspension is handled by BYD’s DiSus-C intelligent damping system. The front uses a double wishbone layout, and the rear uses a five-link setup. Consequently, the Ti 7 has a broader range of capability than most family SUVs in this segment.
What range can drivers expect?
BYD quotes up to 870 kilometres of combined range under WLTC testing. The electric-only range is quoted at around 80 kilometres under the same cycle. However, real-world conditions in the UAE will affect these figures. High temperatures, sustained motorway speeds, and heavy air conditioning use all reduce range. Drivers should treat the official figures as a ceiling, not a guarantee. The Ti 7 works well as a bridge between petrol motoring and full electrification, particularly where charging infrastructure is still developing.
What safety technology does it include?
The Ti 7 has nine airbags fitted as standard. A 360-degree camera system is included across the range. The ADAS package covers adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance. Therefore, the safety specification meets the expectations of a family-oriented SUV at this price point.
How is it priced and what does the purchase process involve?
Pricing starts at 156,900 dirhams. The model is available in more than one variant, according to local buying guides. A reservation deposit of 5,000 dirhams is required, and Zigwheels reports this is fully refundable before delivery. Al-Futtaim’s lease package covers servicing, maintenance, insurance, registration, and breakdown assistance. As a result, the total cost of ownership may be lower than the sticker price suggests for buyers who take the leasing route.
Test drives are now available at BYD showrooms across the UAE. For buyers in the Emirates, the practical questions matter most. How does the Ti 7 cope with summer heat? How does it perform in stop-start city traffic? And how comfortable is it on a long desert highway run? Those answers will shape the Ti 7’s reputation far more than its specification sheet.
The Ti 7 enters a market that is growing quickly. Demand for electrified SUVs across the Gulf has risen steadily. Al-Futtaim is well placed to convert that demand into sales, given its existing BYD network. The Ti 7 gives buyers a well-equipped option at a competitive price for the segment.
