UAE startup FUSE has launched the world’s first fully electric Nissan Patrol. The vehicle blends the Patrol’s ruggedness with a 600hp electric powertrain. This sets a new benchmark for off-road electric vehicles in the Middle East. Crafted in the UAE, this electric 4×4 caters to regional enthusiasts. It honors the Patrol’s spirit through meticulous restoration, using original parts and eco-friendly materials.
FUSE specializes in retrofitting ICE vehicles with electric powertrains. They undertook a bare-metal restoration of the classic Nissan Patrol. The vehicle features a 110kWh dual battery system from Fellten UK and upgraded ARB suspension. It also has vegan leather interiors, power steering, and Method rims with 34-inch Cooper Tyres. This reimagined Patrol represents a significant step towards eco-friendly transportation in a region where off-roading is popular.
The electric Nissan Patrol launches as the UAE intensifies its net-zero commitments. As sustainable transport options accelerate, FUSE is electrifying an iconic model like the Patrol. The Nissan Patrol EV, with its 600-horsepower electric motor, surpasses the original model’s capabilities. It is the fastest off-road electric classic SUV in the UAE.
Salman Hussain, CEO and co-founder of FUSE, expressed pride in the project: “This was one of our most challenging yet rewarding projects. We are proud of the result. This powertrain combines the classic aura of the Nissan Patrol with performance. It proves icons can become part of the sustainability drive while maintaining heritage.”
While FUSE embraces immediate electrification, Nissan also plans for electric versions of the Patrol SUV and Navara ute. Reports indicate the likely deployment of advanced solid-state battery technology. This promises higher energy density and enhanced safety. This aligns with Nissan’s vision of introducing 27 electrified vehicles globally, including 19 full electric models, by 2030.
Interestingly, Nissan’s upcoming Y63 Patrol will initially retain petrol power, bypassing hybrid technology. This contrasts with competitors like Toyota and Lexus, who are releasing hybrid variants. Nissan’s focus on solid-state batteries indicates a direct transition to full electrification when the technology is optimized for larger SUVs.
The launch of the Nissan Patrol EV by FUSE showcases the potential of electric vehicles. It reflects a vibrant future for the automobile market in the UAE and beyond.
