Volkswagen unveils ID.7 GTX

Volkswagen has introduced a new GTX variant of its ID.7 electric vehicle. This model boasts an all-wheel-drive setup with twin electric motors that generate a combined 335 bhp. This allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds. Its hatchback design offers a spacious boot.

The ID.7 GTX is equipped with an 86 kWh battery that supports 200 kW quick-charging, allowing the car to charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes with an appropriate charger. Volkswagen has not specified the maximum range for this model, but similar models have a range of up to 435 miles per charge. Due to its higher performance, the GTX variant is expected to have a slightly reduced range.

Design-wise, the ID.7 GTX features 20-inch aluminum wheels, IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, and illuminated VW badges. The interior includes red accents, high-gloss black elements, heated seats with red contrasting stitching, and ‘GTX’ badges. The multifunction steering wheel also has red stitching. Standard technology includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and ChatGPT integration for infotainment.

Volkswagen has yet to announce an on-sale date for the new ID.7 GTX, with further details on specifications and pricing expected soon.

VW is seen by many as having fallen behind in the EV race.  While still selling well globally, the ID series vehicles haven’t sparked the wild enthusiasm seen for electric-only brands like Tesla and more recently BYD.
