Enercap и ROX Motor построят крупнейший в мире завод по производству суперконденсаторов в Абу-Даби

Enercap and ROX Motor have partnered to advance electrostatic energy storage in EVs, launching a 16GWh “supercap facility” in Mussafah. A supercap facility is a type of energy storage system that uses supercapacitors to deliver rapid bursts of power, making it ideal for applications requiring quick charge and discharge cycles, such as grid balancing or EV charging support. This move supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals and boosts local manufacturing under the nation’s Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap and Operation 300Bn strategy.

Enercap, a subsidiary of Apex Investment, is known for its innovation in non-chemical, electrostatic energy storage systems. These systems, which are developed and produced in the UAE, boast rapid charging capabilities and extended lifespans, all while reducing the risks linked to thermal runaway, an important consideration in battery technology.

ROX Motor, recognized as an international new energy vehicle brand, intends to integrate Enercap’s advanced technology into its upcoming electric vehicle models. This integration not only promises to enhance vehicle performance but also aligns with broader sustainability goals.

The partnership is well-suited to the UAE’s ambitious national strategies, including Operation 300Bn, UAE Industry 4.0, and the overarching Net Zero by 2050 initiative. By harnessing local innovation and manufacturing expertise, this collaboration seeks to bolster the UAE’s status within the competitive global electric vehicle market while also contributing to the nation’s trajectory towards economic diversification and technological advancement.

Further enhancing the scope of this collaboration, Enercap Holdings and Apex Investments have announced plans to build an expansive manufacturing facility in Abu Dhabi’s Mussafah Industrial Zone. Set to produce 16GWh of supercap energy storage solutions annually, this facility is poised to become the largest of its kind in the world. The adoption of supercapacitor technology presents several advantages over traditional lithium-ion batteries, including significantly improved safety features, longer operational lifespans, and faster charging times. This development is particularly timely given the increasing demand for efficient energy storage solutions in both renewable energy and electric vehicle production sectors.

This initiative also aligns with the UAE’s Industrial Decarbonization Roadmap, unveiled at COP28, which seeks to achieve a cumulative reduction of 2.9 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide emissions by 2050. The roadmap includes phased objectives, targeting a 5% reduction by 2030 and a substantial 93% by 2050, focusing on major emitting industries such as cement and steel. The integration of advanced energy storage technologies into electric vehicles not only supports this roadmap but also plays a crucial role in the UAE’s broader climate action strategy.

As part of the UAE’s Fourth Industrial Revolution Program, the government is working to accelerate the adoption of advanced technologies across its industrial sector. This programme aims for a 30% increase in productivity by enhancing competitiveness through cost-cutting and efficiency improvements while also generating new employment opportunities. Initiatives like these demonstrate the UAE’s commitment to creating a sustainable industrial landscape capable of attracting global investment and positioning the nation as a leader in technology integration.
