Smart unveils the flagship #5 Brabus electric SUV

Smart has officially unveiled its latest model, the #5 Brabus, which is set to be the flagship in the brand’s lineup of electric vehicles. This new mid-size SUV combines performance with luxury, boasting impressive specifications that are expected to appeal to both enthusiasts and everyday drivers.

The #5 Brabus is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a remarkable 3.8 seconds when using launch control. This rapid capability is powered by an impressive 475 kW output, which exceeds the next model in the #5 series by a significant margin of 165 kW. This performance is facilitated by a substantial 100 kWh battery that offers a WLTP range of 540 km, although this is 200 km less than the standard #5 due to the enhanced performance features.

In terms of charging capabilities, the #5 Brabus employs an advanced 800-volt architecture, allowing for extremely fast charging at rates of up to 400 kW. This means drivers can achieve a charge from 10 to 80 per cent in as little as 18 minutes, enhancing the vehicle’s practicality for long-distance travel.

The exterior design of the #5 Brabus includes distinctive styling elements such as new 21-inch ‘Monoblock Z’ wheels, sporty design accents, and striking red details on the brake callipers, mirror caps, side skirts, and rear trim strip.

Inside, the #5 Brabus maintains a sporty aura, featuring high-quality materials including suede and microfibre upholstery, and providing heated and ventilated front sports seats. The interior also showcases red stitching and an illuminated Brabus badging on the suede steering wheel. Technological aspects are enhanced with two 13-inch OLED displays, one of which is dedicated to the front passenger, and a high-fidelity audio system by Sennheiser that delivers 2,000 watts through 20 speakers. Additionally, 256-colour LED ambient lighting adds to the sophisticated atmosphere within the vehicle.

European pricing for the Smart #5 Brabus starts at €60,900 (approximately USD70,000), with deliveries expected to commence later this year.
